FAQ — Live Wedding Illustration
1. How does live illustration work on the day?
I arrive early to set up discreetly within your venue. Throughout the celebration,
I capture guests in the moment — often without them realising — creating refined portrait keepsakes that are gifted during the event. It becomes both entertainment and a meaningful surprise.
2. How many guests can you draw?
This depends on the duration booked and the style selected.
As a guideline, I typically create 6–8 refined guest portraits per hour.
If guest count is higher, I can recommend the most suitable coverage option
for your celebration.
3. Do guests need to pose for you?
Not necessarily.
Many portraits are drawn organically as moments unfold. However, guests are
always welcome to approach me if they would love to be illustrated.
4. What packages do you offer?
I offer:
• Live guest illustration
• Ceremony canvas paintings
• Hand-painted place cards
• Bespoke commissions
Each experience is tailored to suit your guest count and aesthetic.
5. Do you travel for destination weddings?
Yes, I regularly travel across the UK and internationally.
Travel, accommodation and, where required, assistant fees are quoted separately depending on the location and scale of the event. A clear breakdown is always provided in advance.
6. What style do you draw in?
My style is refined, emotive and softly detailed — capturing connection rather than caricature. Each portrait is created in watercolour and ink on premium cotton paper.
7. What makes your work different from other live illustrators?
Each wedding I take on is treated as a refined, bespoke experience rather than a volume-based service. I observe quietly, studying subtle expressions, posture and light — ensuring each portrait reflects not just likeness, but presence. I limit the number of bookings I accept each season to protect the quality and focus of my work. My approach is less about production speed, and more about creating something considered, intimate and lasting.
8. When should we book?
I recommend securing your date as early as possible, particularly for peak season weddings (April–September), as availability is limited.
9. How do we secure our date?
A signed agreement and booking fee are required to confirm your date.
Once secured, I will guide you through the planning details leading up to your celebration.
10. Why choose live illustration over traditional wedding favours?
Live illustration offers something deeply personal and lasting. Rather than a generic favour, guests receive a hand-painted keepsake capturing a moment shared during your celebration. It becomes both an experience and a memory — something guests often frame and treasure long after the day.
11. Can we request a bespoke idea?
Absolutely.
I welcome bespoke concepts that reflect your story — from intimate vow moments to personalised illustrated details.
12. How long do hand-painted place cards take?
Production time depends on guest count and seasonality.
As a guideline, I recommend confirming 10–12 weeks prior to your wedding date.
Once confirmed, a finalised guest list must be submitted following my artwork guidelines and formatting requirements. This ensures consistency, accuracy and the highest quality finish across every piece.
Time is allocated for preparation, painting and refinements where needed.
If additional guests are confirmed closer to the date, I can usually accommodate small additions up to two weeks before the wedding, subject to availability.
